En Madrid la Navidad también se vive con tradiciones y actividades públicas entorno a esta gran celebración. La “Cabalgatas de Reyes” es un clásico del centro de la ciudad española, uno de los eventos populares más esperados.
Se trata de un gran espectáculo en movimiento, con despliegue de carrozas, desfiles y compañías de artes escénicas que llegan de distintos puntos del mundo a participar con sus marionetas gigantes, comparsas, música y sorprendentes bailarines.
La llegada de los Reyes inunda de magia y destellos las calles madrileñas, una actividad para disfrutar en familia y entre amigos. Las carrozas trasladan a los tres majestuosos personajes del Oriente, los Reyes Magos Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar. La comitiva real integrada por personajes curiosos y fantásticos, denominados los pajes reales, son los encargados de repartir caramelos, recibir cartas de deseos y abrir regalos con los niños.
Ataviados con trajes que brillan como el sol, la cabalgata plaga de emoción, alegría, colores e imaginación la capital de España. El recorrido está previsto por la tarde del 5 de enero e inicia en la zona de Nuevos Ministerios y finaliza en Plaza Cibeles. Los principales puntos del desfile son la Plaza Gregorio Marañón, Glorieta Emilio Castelar, Colón y Recoletos. El paso de las carrozas decoradas e iluminadas tendrá también numerosos conciertos y coros.
Al finalizar la tradicional cabalgata el “Mensaje de los Reyes Magos” continúa con los fuegos artificiales sobre el Palacio Cibeles, una postal deslumbrante. La programación de las Cabalgatas se realiza en numerosas ciudades pero la de Madrid es la principal y la más multitudinaria, un enorme despliegue artístico imperdible.
El Ayuntamiento de la ciudad prepara para la ocasión gradas de acceso libre para el público y dispone de lugares especiales para que personas con discapacidad y sus acompañantes puedan vivir el espectáculo. El sentido de este evento, destinado a grandes y chicos, es un mensaje de paz y solidaridad. La Cabalgata de los Reyes es una propuesta dulce, tan dulce como los mil kilos de caramelos que ese día se reparten entre los espectadores.
