Entre pozas, valles, montañas y largas caminatas por bosques y riachuelos, es que se encuentran las espectaculares caídas de agua cristalinas de ¨Cuevas¨. Un punto turístico privilegiado por la abundante naturaleza que lo compone, ubicado a 20 km al sur del municipio de Samaipata y a 119 km de la ciudad de Santa Cruz. Cuevas se encuentra dentro de los límites del Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Río Grande y Valles Cruceños.
Un destino ideal para quienes buscan un lugar donde relajarse al aire libre, disfrutar de la flora, la fauna y los bosques con todos sus atractivos naturales que rodean sus cascadas cristalinas. Su locación en los valles mesotérmicos es afortunada por la combinación del clima cálido y tropical, con la frescura de las alturas pre andinas, con una temperatura promedio de 20º C y sol moderado.
El camino para llegar a este lugar es bastante pintoresco por sus paisajes que van en ascenso y sus famosas posadas como una piedra pintada sobre la carretera, flores y vegetación abundante y diversa.
Cuevas invita al visitante a respirar la pureza del aire a 1.650 metros de altura, abrazada por montañas y serranías con pozos naturales de agua y cascadas de más de 20 metros de altura. El lugar cuenta con amplias áreas de camping y cabañas turísticas para alojarse.
Sus majestuosas caídas de agua se pueden encontrar caminando río arriba por un sendero despejado desde la carretera. A 100 metros de la primera caída cristalina se encuentra la segunda, bordeada por playas de arena y rodeada de verde. Caminando unos 120 metros más arriba, está la tercera, la más grande e ideal para descansar en un picnic y refrescarse, un lugar mágico y perfecto para pasar un fin de semana rodeado de naturaleza.
