Pocos son los espacios en el mundo que pueden regalar tanta magia y ensueño como los bosques. El otoño brinda el pretexto perfecto para salir del bullicio de la ciudad y disfrutar de un paisaje salpicado de colores entre ocre, anaranjado, verde y amarillo que pintan escenarios únicos y espectaculares para la vista. Ni qué decir de los árboles, añejos habitantes de la tierra, que cual callados testigos del correr del tiempo se entretienen dibujando formas en el cielo y en la tierra.
En Madrid, existen varios bosques hermosos y peculiares que se pueden visitar en diferentes épocas del año. En esta ocasión, le sugerimos tres, que son particularmente hermosos y de fácil acceso si está visitando España: El Hayedo Montejo, el de la Herrería y el Robledal de la Hiruela.
El bosque Hayedo de Montejo es un espacio natural protegido que se encuentra en las faldas de la Sierra de Ayllón. Pertenece al municipio de Montejo de la Sierra, a una hora y media de la ciudad. Cubre un espacio de unas 250 hectáreas que se destacan por su belleza y unicidad. Se constituye en una de las arboledas más atractivas de Madrid.
El microclima de la zona, su orientación y humedad constante son factores que han propiciado que los señoriales brezos, abedules, robles y otras especies forestales se vean cada año más frondosas.
Fue declarado Sitio Natural de Interés Nacional en 1974 y Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 2017. Para poder visitar este hermoso bosque es preciso reservar las entradas online con tiempo puesto que es un lugar muy cotizado, sobre todo en otoño.
El siguiente bosque que le sugerimos visitar es La Herrería. Está situado junto al Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial y en sus 497 hectáreas alberga principalmente robles y fresnos que conviven con arces de Montpellier, enebros, cerezos, sauces y algún castaño. Durante su recorrido, que no dura más de tres horas, se puede disfrutar de un paseo agradable, con vistas espectaculares hacia El Escorial.
El bosque forma parte de la Red Natura 2000 como Lugar de Interés Comunitario y Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves.
El Robledal de La Hiruela es el último en nuestra lista. Está muy próximo al Hayedo de Montejo, es uno de los más bonitos de la región y cuenta con varias rutas de senderismo fáciles de recorrer. Forma parte de la Sierra del Rincón, declarada Reserva de la Biosfera en 2005 por la Unesco, y está situado junto al pueblo que le da nombre.
Es famoso por sus carboneras, unas construcciones de troncos de madera con un hueco en su parte superior que servían a los habitantes de la Hiruela y los pueblos cercanos para producir carbón vegetal de brezo y roble siendo ese su principal sustento.

The Hayedo de Montejo forest is a protected natural area located in the foothills of the Sierra de Ayllón. It belongs to the municipality of Montejo de la Sierra, an hour and a half from the city. The Robledal de La Hiruela is the last one on our list. It is very close to the Hayedo de Montejo, and it is one of the most beautiful in the region with several easy hiking trails. It is part of Sierra del Rincón, declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2005 by Unesco, and is located next to the town that gives it its name.
It is famous for its coal bunkers, wooden trunks with a hollow in the upper part that served the inhabitants of La Hiruela and nearby towns to produce heather and oak charcoal as their main sustenance.
