Caminando, en automóvil o en teleférico, en la cima del Cerro San Bernardo nos espera una vista panorámica maravillosa.
Salta ‘la linda’ se ve más linda desde las alturas. Alejándose del bullicio del centro, el cerro ubicado estratégicamente a 260 metros por encima de la ciudad vigila el casco urbano y parte del Valle de Lerma.
La visita es obligada para quienes llegan a Salta. Una de las maneras más divertidas para llegar es hacerlo en el teleférico, cuya base se encuentra en el Parque San Martín, y su estación de llegada es la misma cima.
Allí la arquitectura se eleva en armonía con el paisaje y la vegetación. Las terrazas y balcones del complejo construidas con las piedras del cerro regalan vistas maravillosas. Se observan, a lo lejos, los caminos a Cafayate y Campo Quijano y las afueras de la ciudad. No se pierden las cúpulas de las iglesias de La Merced, San Francisco y San Alfonso, y la Catedral, el Cabildo y los edificios ubicados en los alrededores de la Plaza 9 de julio.
A lo largo del camino hacia la cumbre, se contempla la belleza de la ciudad durante el día, y las luces brillantes en las noches. Una vez arribados a la cima se puede visitar la Cruz del Cerro, colocada en 1901, y el Cristo. Si le gusta la caminata, 1.070 escalones lo conducen hasta allí y en el recorrido se encontrará a las 14 estaciones del Vía Crucis.
El paseo se puede coronar con la visita a las cascadas ubicadas en el medio de un páramo vegetal, natural y fresco.El cerro San Bernardo es una reserva municipal que cuenta con alrededor de 100 hectáreas que albergan a la flora y la fauna autóctona. Además de disfrutar de las panorámicas, las cascadas y el recorrido religioso, puede recargar la energía en la confitería que espera a los turistas y a los peregrinos.
Para quienes visiten Salta en alas de Boliviana de Aviación y deseen pasear sin alejarse de la ciudad, conocer el Cerro San Bernardo y contemplar la ciudad desde lo alto, es una excelente opción.
